RE: Comuter Reboots Itself

Thanks for all the advice. I will clean the insides good, chect the fan, reseat every thing and maybe change out the power supply with a space I have around here somewhere. I tend to agrees with whoever said the hard drive may be dying. It does make some unusual noises. This problem has been going on for more than a year. It go better for awhile after I bought my new one. But all this will have to wait until after July the 7th, we are headed to a North Georgia campground tomorrow.

Comuter Reboots Itself

My old computer (which gave to my grandson)has for some time frequently reboots itself. Usually it will freeze before rebooting. There does not appear to be a pattern or special program running to cause this. The operating system is windows XP. I've run virus and spyware checks many times, but it still reboots.
What do I need to look for??????

RE: Rear Camera

I have a camera mounted on the rear of my rear kitchen Terry. I replaced the rear center running light lens with an electrical box from Home Depot. I mounted the camera in the box and drilled a 1/2 hole thur the wall into the cabinet. I fished all wires thru to the inside cabinet back wall. The video cable I ran from the overhead rear cabinet, thru the back wall of the pantry, behind the microwave over, under the sink and out thru the floor where all other wiring came thru. Then along the frame to the front, along the edge of the overhang to the electric cord. I then taped the video cable to the electric hookup cord. When I hook up I connect the video cable to the truck video cable which I fish from the read to the front drivers side and thru the fire wall into the cab where I hook to the monitor. Works great.

RE: Changing Out 30 amp Male Plug

Cowilke. That's what I am going to do. I bought a RV 30 amp extension cord off Ebay for $31.00. I'm going to cut the female end off, attach terminals and wire it inside the trailer. The old core with eventually be made into an extension cord. I've never needed an extension core but I will have one if I ever do. Thanks for the idea of making the adapter. Eventually, I'm going to install a 30 amp hookup at my house but that's a future project.

Steaming video question

While watching video on hulu.com my computer frequently freezes for buffering. I use a wireless connection and my connection registers as fair (2 bars out of 6). Is this frequent buffering a connection problem or a memory problem? I have 1 Gig of memory, dual core processor and use Vista operating system. I've tried both Windows Internet Explorer and FoxFire with same results.

RE: What do you all think?

That truck should have no problems what so ever, but I would weigh everything when completely loaded just to make sure. You can always take some stuff out if needed. I carry more than I need but less than I want.

RE: What do you all think?

I envy your planning. My wife and I should have bought a 5th wheeler years ago. I recommend you take the time to look around for a used 2004 or 05 and inspect it thoroughly. Right now is a buyers market. If you are not familiar with trailers, get someone experienced to go with you. I'm sure a RV.net member from your area would be glad to help. You didn't mention (or I overlooked it)what you will be towing with. Remember the bigger and heaver the trailer the more truck you will need. My F250 V10 pulls my 9500#s very well. Good luck...

RE: How close to "even" does the landing gear have to be

A quarter inch is nothing to worry about. I carry a 8" piece of treated 1 x 4 (which is really 3/4 inch and with age about 5/8")to try to get the landing pads touching fairly evenly. 3/4 inch is probably nothing to be concerned about but I don't like twisting the frame that much besides my wife can feel being off level 1/2 inch.

RE: Changing Out 30 amp Male Plug

Thanks for all the advise. I'm leaning now towards replacing the cord and make an extension cord out of the old one.

Changing Out 30 amp Male Plug

My electrical hooup cord plug contacts are looking pretty bad and pitted. I;ve filed and cleaned the contracts but I think I really need to replace the plug. At my local rv store I saw male sealed rubber like plug with a short pigtail. I couldn't stay around at the store to ask someone about this item so I thought i'd ask some of you electircal experts. Is this item intended to be a replacement plug? If so, when I splice this pigtail to my cord wouldn't it cause resistance and heat up? I check at a couple of hardware stores and didn't like the hard plastic universal plugs.

RE: Awning screen rooms??

I use the ez up by Swiss and love it. The only problem I have is it's white and has a red cross on it and some people think I'm the first aid station. I have to be careful putting it up to make sure the cross is facing the trailer.

RE: decals

GFS Thanks for the link. I removed my decals several months ago and have been looking for something to put back. If I can't find what I want from these folks I might as well give up.

RE: anyway to get more pressure from shower?

I hate to admit it but the reason my shower head wouldn't shut off is I didn't have the shut off part attached to the shower head. I now see what robbie69 means about the trickle, which is ok with me. I will keep it and see what the DW thinks, if she doesn't like it I'll change back.

RE: Dumping grey water holding tank

Halfton Guy. Getting back to your original question. If you are interested in making a gray water carrier really cheap, buy you a 55 gal plastic trash can,or one of the large plastic storage containers; install a water hose connection in the bottom edge with some type of shut off valve. Place in back of truck and fill using an old 5 gal paint bucket. Drive to dump station and drain as needed.

RE: Have any of you upgraded your kitchen faucets?

Very easy project. I did both bathroom and kitchen with fixtures from HD.Took about an hour for both. Most of the work is done by feel. Makes as world difference especially in the kitchen. The bathroom fixture came with a new drain plug which I haven't replaced yet but plan to. Both cost me about $125.

Increasing comfort of sofa bed

The sofa bed in our 5th wheel is typical of most trailers. To increase the comfort I've added sections of 1/4" plywood over the frame to give stability and 3" of memory foam to lay on. It's still not very comfortable. The 3" foam is the most I can fold into the sofa or I would add more foam. An uncomfortable sofa normally would not be a bad thing to keep sister in law from spending the night except my daughter and soninlaw usually sleep on it when they go with us (infrequently). This set up is still not very comfortable. I was thinking of a queen size air mattress to lay on the plywood. It wouldn't take long to inflate and deflate for night use. They both weight more that they should, combined about 400lbs. Have any of you used this set up? Will an air mattess handle this much weight?

I looked and tried everything and there is no cut off on the shower head. I'm going to return this thing.
